CBU FEE programme held its’ Introductory Course to new students

CBU FEE Students The course was held as an intensive course and familiarized the students with basic concepts of forest industry and bioenergy production. The first week of the course was held at Mekrijärvi research station in Ilomantsi and the second week at the premises of the Faculty of Forest Sciences at the University of Joensuu. Eleven students from Russia, China and Belarus participated the course. Maxim Trishkin is a student in the CBU Forestry and EnvironmCBU studentsental Engineering programme.

Maxim finds the different approaches to learning that the CBU offers very motivating. He really appreciated the fact that studying took place in small groups. An intensive course with highly qualified visiting lecturers from Russia and Finland held outside the campus were also to Maxim’s liking. Out of the lecturers Maxim mentioned especially Professor Bo Dahlin from the University of Helsinki for his good presentation and ability to really connect with the students during the lectures. Vadim Goltsev’s (PhD) lecture on biomass procurement and development was also something Maxim found really interesting.

CBU students 2009 Maxim thinks that studying in the CBU Forestry and Environmental Engineering programme will help him find work in the future since there will always be need for people that have good subject specific knowledge and international experiences. Since the language of studies is English, he thinks his professional language skills will improve substantially during the studies. In the future Maxim aims to work in an international forestry company.

The CBU Forestry and Environmental Engineering programme held its’ Introductory Course to the new students at the University of Joensuu on 3-14 August.
